the sales overall of organic are up by 5% in Italy and settle at € 4.6 billion, considering the 12 months ending in July 2021. Also theexport bio Made in Italy continues its run: + 11% compared to last year, totaling 2.9 billion euros on international markets and confirming itself as the country with the largest number of exports to Europe. The SANA Observatory, created by Nomisma in collaboration with AssoBio and FederBio, divides the consumption interior in “domestic”, equal to 3.9 billion euro (+ 4%) and “away from home”, equal to 701 million euro (+ 10%). There catering collective and commercial growth returns after the physiological -27% (487 million euros) recorded in the 2020 edition of the Observatory. There distribution modern with 56% it makes up the lion’s share of domestic sales channels: € 2.2 billion (+ 2%) between hypermarkets, supermarkets, self-service, drug specialists, discount and ecommerce. The last two continue to record the greatest increases: + 10.7% for low-cost outlets (205 million euros) and + 67.3% for online shops (75 million euros).
The trend confirms what was already observed by AssoBio-Nielsen in the first quarter of 2021 for the two areas (+10.5 and + 79%). The growth of shops specialized ‘bio’ (+ 8%), which satisfy a quarter (26%) of domestic consumption with almost one billion euros in sales. The remaining 19% (723 million euros, + 5%) comes from neighborhood shops, flea markets, pharmacies, parapharmacies, solidarity buying groups.
