The football world and cryptocurrencies have come together once again, this time through the NFT industry. Fantasy football platform Sorare announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Spain’s La Liga.
Sorare, which also includes Turkish teams such as Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, produces NFT cards of many football players from all over the world. Cards are sorted by rarity. The values of NFTs increase or decrease according to the performance of the players in their teams each week. Cards can be traded between users.
They signed with a league organization for the first time
France-based Sorare, a platform that has received investments from legendary names such as Antoine Griezmann, Gerard Pique, and Rio Ferdinand who have both left football and continued their careers, has made an agreement with a league organization for the first time with this agreement. Sorare also has plans to partner with the world’s top 20 football leagues. The agreement covers the Spanish 2nd League as well as La Liga.
Nicolas Julia, CEO and co-founder of Sorare, used the following statements about the agreement:
“NFTs are one of the most important parts of the global sports communities. The future… Thanks to Sorare, people will be able to be connected to the NFTs of their loved ones with a sense of ownership. We are proud to be the first partner of La Liga in this sense.”
Mbappe NFT sold for 116 ETH
On the Sorare platform, the prices of the cards can reach very high levels. Last year, Kylian Mbappe’s NFT was sold for exactly 116 ETH. In December, the dollar equivalent of this card was about 65,000 dollars. It is currently equivalent to 400 thousand dollars. In the event that rumors come true and Mbappe is transferred to Real Madrid, the player’s “rare card” could be priced at over a million euros.
Ronaldo NFT 2 years ago 1 million euros!
Another world-famous star Cristiano Ronaldo, who made a splash as a transfer to Manchester United, is on sale for a full 350 ETH, a Juventus card for the 2019/2020 season. The value of this price in dollar terms is approximately 1 million euros.
Ronaldo’s NFT in Manchester United is not on the platform yet, as Premier League teams do not have an agreement with Sorare.
