The Spanish football championship will also have its NFTs in the image of its clubs and players. LaLiga is signing a partnership with the French marketplace Sorare.
The world of football is demonstrating a little more its interest in digital assets and in particular non-fungible tokens, NFTs. Besides token fans, football relies on NFTs to generate new income.
LaLiga, the first of the five biggest football leagues in the world, will therefore issue NFTs. For this, it signs a partnership with the French platform Sorare. The publisher offers a fantasy football game, but also a marketplace.
NFTs, a new source of income for football
This online marketplace allows users to buy and sell collectible cards in digital format, NFT Ethereum. Sorare now claims agreements with more than 155 football clubs and nearly 500,000 users.
LaLiga is therefore tumbling into the exploding NFT market. Thanks to Sorare, she will be able to create and sell to fans and collectors cards of players of the Spanish championship.
Its sales will materialize for the Iberian professional championship with new revenues in a market estimated in 2021 at already 100 million dollars. The deal with Sorare covers both first and second division clubs.
The French blockchain actor, who has raised several funds, in particular with players such as Gerard Piqué or Antoine Griezmann, continues to develop. It aims for partnerships with the twenty best football leagues by the end of 2022.
NFT and fan tokens for investors
Sorare has already signed with major brands in the sector, including “the majority of the 100 biggest football clubs in the world”. This is the case with the clubs of Liverpool FC, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
But Sorare is also targeting football federations. In June, on the occasion of the European Cup, the company signed with France. She obtained the official license of the France team, the first national federation to make its debut on the Ethereum blockchain.
NFTs are not, however, the only digital assets in which football enthusiasts can invest. A platform like Socios.com, carried by the Chiliz token, thus develops fan tokens. The token recorded record performances in 2021.
