A little less than a month from the release of Windows 11 (October 5, 2021 let us remember), Microsoft has published a technical video explaining the performance gains of Windows 11 compared to Windows 10. Here is an overview.

How the price table works
Windows 11 has been available in beta for several weeks, but its official release is only scheduled for October 5. Microsoft’s new operating system was primarily touted as a UI redesign with a more modern design, but that’s not all.
Indeed, in a video posted on YouTube, the company explained how Windows 11 will also improve overall performance and the speed of execution of certain tasks. We thus discover technical evolutions at the crossroads of software and hardware.
Better management of resources
Thus, the management of system resources has been redesigned in order to prioritize the foreground applications, that is to say those that are in use. Now, Windows will reduce the amount of resources used by secondary applications, even if they are very energy intensive.

The OS should therefore be more fluid, and opening new applications should be done almost instantly. The demonstration was convincing, but only Microsoft applications were used (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). These are not very resource intensive and probably very well optimized, so we will have to wait and see if the results are as good with third party applications.
Wake up faster
Also, waking up has been accelerated by 25% according to the firm, thanks to an optimization of the awakening of certain essential components such as the SSD or the network card. Likewise, booting a PC through Windows Hello has a speed boost of up to 30%. Windows Hello generally taking 2 seconds, or even 3 to unlock a session, so this could result in a few tenths of a second of grappling and a more instant sensation of access to your Windows desktop.

It was also mentioned that the operating system will occupy less space on the storage by improving the data compression. However, nothing was specified and it is not really known whether the gains are substantial or ultimately very limited.
Overall, these announcements are interesting and users can only be satisfied with the smoother Windows. Only a few more weeks to wait to be able to take full advantage of this new version, provided that the material conditions are met …
