Vivo formalizes the successors of the X60 in China. An X70 series of which the X70 Pro + model, equipped with a “gimbal” type stabilizer, but also a chip dedicated to image processing, is the spearhead.
Less than a year after the officialization of the X60 Pro + in China, and only a few months after its marketing in Europe, Vivo unveils the series which will follow it. An X70 range very largely geared towards photography, and which benefits both from the partnership forged with Zeiss and, in the case of the X70 Pro +, from optical stabilization on all of its photo modules.
X70 Pro +: stabilization on all levels
This Pro + model, obviously the best equipped of the lot, includes the famous V1 photo chip mentioned by Vivo a few days ago as a teasing of its announcement. The smartphone is equipped with a back unit including a 50 megapixel main sensor (the Samsung Isocell GN1, f / 1.57 optical), but also a 48 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.2 lens taking advantage of the stabilization of the type “gimbal” discovered on previous Vivo X series. These modules are completed by a 12 megapixel sensor with its telephoto lens (f / 1.6, 2x telephoto) and by a 5x periscopic telephoto lens accompanying an 8 megapixel sensor. All the optics are signed Zeiss and benefit from a T * treatment, and Vivo announces improved performance in video, thanks in particular to the reduction of digital noise provided by its V1 chip. We note that the smartphone is capable of filming up to 8K at 30 fps.
Zooms for the whole range
As for the X70 Pro and X70, the gimbal is in the game, but applied to their main sensor (50 Mpx for the first, 40 Mpx for the second), decked out with a wide-angle lens. The ultra wide-angle with 12 Mpx sensor is present, as well as another 12 Mpx sensor with 2x optical zoom (f / 2) is present on both smartphones. The V70 Pro adds the telephoto periscope of the V70 Pro + (stabilized optics, f / 3.4) of the X70 Pro +. But we note that on the video side, these two models stick to 4K up to 60 fps, however, like the V70 Pro +, benefiting from an ability to shoot in HDR10 +.
For the rest, the X70 series has neat features. All smartphones have an Amoled 120 Hz and HDR 10+ screen, 6.56 inches for the X70 and X70 Pro, both Full HD +, and 6.78 inches for the V70 Pro +, which displays QHD + definition. Their chipset varies by model (MediaTek Dimensity 1200 for the X70 and X70 Pro, and Snapdragon 888+ for the X70 Pro +), as does their RAM, ranging from 8 to 12 GB depending on the version. Their battery is compatible with fast charging of 44 W for the X70 and X70 Pro (4400 mAh and 4450 mAh) and 55 W for the X70 Pro + (4500 mAh). The latter also benefits from compatibility with wireless charging and IP68 certification. They are of course all compatible with 5G and launched under Android 11.
Vivo’s X70 series is currently only announced in China and Southeast Asia, but there is little doubt that the Chinese brand will market them a little later in Europe, as it did. for its previous models.
