Less elegant than the Xiaomi model, this Auckly holder remains quite well finished overall. Admittedly, its plastic is not the most sumptuous, but it has the merit of seeming rather robust. An LED lights up the back of the charger when it is plugged in and the car’s ignition is on.
Obviously, with its induction charger, the Auckly holder is not the most compact there is. It remains a little less bulky than the Xiaomi model, but this is partly explained by the presence of a cooling system in the latter. The absence of such a device on the Auckly charger is a drawback, especially in winter, when there is a tendency to expel hot air from the ventilation grilles on which the support is fixed. Heat is the enemy of batteries and risks losing efficiency over long charges. In summer, on the other hand, the cool air propelled by air conditioning can effectively keep the temperature of the smartphone at a tolerable level.
To fix the support to the grid, a small clamp is used. This is covered with rubber so as not to damage the fins of the ventilation outlet. Tightening is done by screwing a nut which tightens the clamps. A method which has the merit of being very effective. The support hardly moves when properly installed.
Note, however, that Auckly does not provide the cigarette lighter charger with its holder. You will need to invest in a copy if you do not have one yet. It is also possible to connect directly to a USB port if the car is equipped with one. However, there is no guarantee that said USB port will deliver enough power to operate the charger optimally.
