(Teleborsa) – The Antitrust has given the green light the commitments undertaken by TIM, Fastweb, Tiscal, Kkr and Fibercop for the project for the creation of a secondary network for the latter and for the construction of a “new high-capacity point-to-point optical fiber infrastructure” to replace copper.
The Authority has in fact given the green light to the publication of the commitments by the parties involved, unblocking the implementation of the project, which awaited the determination of the competition authority after the start of the investigation on 15 December 2020.
“It is believed that the proposed commitments – explains the AGCM – are suitable to allow the positive conclusion of the procedure without ascertaining any infringement, increasing the economic benefits inherent in a co-investment project in a new fiber Vhc network, which will generate intense infrastructural competition between co-investors (including operators with relatively low market shares), incentivizing them to invest in the primary network infrastructure and will accelerate the take up FTTH and switch off the legacy copper network in the interest of end users ”.
