The well-known hacker group Anonymous has announced that it wants to bring Do Kwon, the co-founder of Terra, to justice. The collapse of the Earth ecosystem (LUNA) and the related stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) caused huge losses for many investors.
Sunday it was posted a video presumed to come from the hacker group Anonymous, which listed all the misdeeds committed by Kwon, included the monthly collection of 80 million dollars from the LUNA and UST projects shortly before their collapse. The hackers also highlighted her role in the bankruptcy of the stablecoin Basis Cashco-created by Kwon in late 2020 under the alias “Rick Sanchez:”
“Do Kwon, if you are listening, know that there is nothing more you can do to undo the damage you have caused. At this point the only thing we can do is hold you accountable, and make sure you are brought to justice. as soon as possible.”
The hacker group claims to is investigating Do Kwon’s past and his actions in the crypto sectorso that he can make his crimes public:
“Anonymous has been looking into Do Kwon’s entire history since he entered the cryptocurrency industry so that he can uncover his misdeeds. […] There is no doubt that, in your wake of destruction, you have committed many other crimes. “
The hacker group also criticized Kwon for his “arrogant tactics“focused on denigrating the competition and its enormous presumption, as if it were impossible for his project to fail.
Born in 2003 on 4chan, Anonymous is a decentralized collective of activists known for orchestrating cyber attacks against government institutions, agencies, private companies and even the Church of Scientology.
In June 2021, the same YouTube channel targeted Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, for influencing the cryptocurrency markets by exploiting his fame and influence on Twitter, thereby destroying the lives of many investors. The video reached over 3.4 million views.
However, it should be emphasized that there are many YouTube channels that claim to be affiliated with Anonymous. It is actually believed that there is no official YouTube channel, given the decentralized and anonymous nature of the hacker group.
The reaction of the community
The community on YouTube and Twitter appeared in favor of Anonymous’s initiative to prosecute Kwon. A comment defines the hacker group “the modern day Robinhood.“
Users on Reddit are more skeptical, criticizing Anonymous for having launched an empty threat against Kwon without however having provided any new information to the public:
“I would have expected them to have discovered something. But that video says absolutely nothing.”
Anyway, Kwon faces far more tangible threats. Terraform Labs, of which Kwon is co-founder, is currently the subject of numerous investigations by the South Korean authorities.
In May, a well-known investigation unit, called “Yeouido’s Death Angels,” was commissioned by the South Korean government to investigate the collapse of Earth. The team is made up of various regulators, and specializes in the prosecution of fraud and illegal trading.
Also in May, Korean authorities sued all Terraform Labs employees, opening an investigation into potential market manipulation. The company, accused of tax evasion, was also fined $ 78 million by the South Korean tax agency.
