Russian Deputy Finance Minister Aleksey Moiseyev said that the Russian Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank generally agreed on a bill that would legalize international transfers with cryptocurrencies.
“We agreed with the central bank”
According to the development reported by the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Deputy Finance Minister Moiseyev, speaking at the 19th International Banking Forum, said, “We have a draft law on which we have agreed with the Central Bank at the moment. It includes how to buy cryptocurrencies in general, and in particular under what conditions cross-border payments can be made,” he said.
Moiseyev told Russian state channel Rossiya-24 on September 5 that it is an obligation for Russia to make international payments with cryptocurrencies under the current conditions, “The infrastructure we have planned may be a bit rigid for cross-border transfers. For this, we need to legalize these transfers first.” he said. The Deputy Minister also stated that while advocating legalization on the one hand, it should be brought under control in order to avoid criminal elements such as money laundering and drugs on the other.
