The application will not only be used to relay information, but also to avoid you having to climb the ladder to cut off the alarm in the event of detection or to multiply the signals following an alarm. In the scenarios that can be created, several actions can be configured after a detection, including turning on another Konyks device such as a light bulb, a connected socket or a camera.
In addition to smartphone notifications, a feature offers the possibility of receiving an SMS. However, this is chargeable – count €2.50 for a batch of 20 messages or €10 for a hundred SMS.
We would also have liked to find in the application a function to test the detector remotely. The maintenance guide recommends testing the device on a weekly basis by pressing the button, an uninviting request to implement for a device fixed at a height, generally out of reach without a stepladder.
During the bump test with real smoke, the device is very responsive, and the alert is relayed to the app within seconds. The smartphone beeps and relays the message via notifications. It is possible to pause the alarm in this way without having to physically touch the detector.
Similar to pausing by pressing the button, the detector’s audible alarm stops sounding for the next ten minutes and then resumes if smoke is detected again. If it is a false alarm caused by a release of smoke without starting a fire, a simple ventilation of the room to dissipate it is enough.
