The Last of Us: HBO confirm season 2 of the series

We expected it, actress Bella Ramsey was even confident about it, and it’s official today. Series The Last of Us has been renewed for a second season by HBO.

Certainly, the news does not make us fall from our chair as it was expected, but it confirms the ambitions of HBO and HBO Max, as well as the good reception of the series after only two episodes broadcast. As a reminder, The Last of Us is the best start to an HBO series in over 10 years, currently boasting a 4.4 out of 5 rating on Allociné, and 84 out of 100 on Metacritic.

Series co-creator and original game writer-director Neil Druckmann expressed his gratitude at the news: “I am honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have linked up with our story of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration between Craig Mazin, our amazing cast, crew, and HBO exceeded my high expectations. And now, we have the pleasure of being able to do it again with a season two! As a reminder, the series is adapted from the eponymous video game released in 2013, which tells in a postapocalyptic future the epidemic caused by a fungus and having ravaged civilization, transforming humans into violent infected. 20 years later, Joel, a disillusioned man, accepts the perilous mission to accompany the young Ellie across the United States to a safe place.

The Last of Us consists of nine episodes broadcast in France on Amazon Prime Video at the rate of one per week, every Monday. The last episode of the season will be broadcast on March 12 on HBO and HBO Max in the United States, the following day on Prime Video.
