Elektronorm it is a technological jewel, part of that Italian fabric of small and medium-sized enterprises, which represent the true backbone of our economy. Its origin is a story to be told, because as in the best traditions of modern entrepreneurship, it was born on February 2, 1983 in a modest local Pinstripesin the Milanese hinterland, on the initiative of its founder Gaetano Pulera who, with the help of his wife Caterina, began to make the first industrial switchboards with the typical tenacity of a craftsman.
Since that day, with so much determination and sacrifice, the company has grown, going through important stages and, under the guidance of the second generation represented by Mr. Gaetano’s sons, Francis and Georgehas been starting for some years to face the challenge of green economy.
“A challenge in which we are sure we can play the game for the next few years”. The new commercial director of the company says he is confident Luigi Lasco.
The company, with almost 30 million turnover and 110 employees on the national territory, it is proposed, therefore, as important player in the alternative energy and industrial automation sector.
We talked about it with his President Francesco Pulerà:
What is your core business today?
“Before talking about the present, I would like to remind you that ours is a family with humble origins of which I am proud, because I learned as a boy, thanks to the teachings and example of my father Gaetano, that results can only be achieved at the cost of enormous sacrifices and with great respect for one’s collaborators, because the true value of any company is represented by the women and men who work there, i.e. by the skills that make up the squad. My father’s story is that of one of the many emigrants who left from the deep south to Germany where he was trained by working hard as a skilled worker.
Our secret was to understand well in advance the changes that were appearing in the market, fromautomation of industrial processes at alternative or renewable energy sourcesbut without ever neglecting the importance of the sector that saw us born, that is industrial electrical systems.
This is how in the 90s we started a process of diversifying our business with theindustrial automation on which we founded our first center of excellence, hiring very high-profile specialists. This combination of skills has allowed us to overcome even moments of negative economic situation without great difficulties.”
Renewable energy and alternative energy sources: what are your distinctive features?
“Persevering in a careful policy in the selection of suitable skills and in stimulating formulas in the management of its employees, in recent years high-profile managers and technical figures have joined our team, thanks to whom we have started a process of growth in the sector of renewables and alternative energy systemsacquiring strong know-how and working on integrating the best technological solutions with our manufacturing capacity, up to defining our core businesses for the next few years, particularly in the sectors of new generation photovoltaic systems, cogeneration, trigeneration, hydrogen and biomethane.
By consolidating the team and imagining in time a future that represents our present, in which there would have been a strong demand for skills and excellence, we have invested well in advance in value of people and today we can say that we are able to face the increased demand for plant engineering without difficulty renewables e you business digitizationand to keep up with the market, given the enormous resources made available by the PNRR and the EU Green Deal.
In short, we can say that we are on the right side of the market and can play an important role in changing the country’s energy system.”
How did you deal with the generational transition?
“I can say that, with great foresight, my father, despite his age, was the engine of change. He realized that the company necessarily had to move from an owner-type management to modern governance. And so, already several years ago, although we were still “small”, by tackling the project for the development of the 231 organizational model and for the certification of quality systems with great seriousness, we began to structure ourselves by processes. But after my father handed over the leadership of the company to me and my brother, this change accelerated greatly.
We have thus hired very high-profile managers and significantly strengthened the technical structure with the inclusion of excellent ones skillsalso focusing heavily on young talents also thanks to the launch of collaboration channels with some of the best Italian universities.
Another reason for our pride is that we have been able to grasp well in advance the importance of topics related to sustainability and today we can say that we are completing a virtuous path that will soon lead us to be among the first in the world of medium-sized enterprises to be certified ESG compliance which for us is not just an aesthetic mark but a real management philosophy. It is no coincidence that for some time now we have launched a series of programs on the subject of social responsabilityrespect for gender equality, welfarerespect for the legality and for theenvironment.”
One sawstrategic one about the future?
“Despite the international and geopolitical context that is certainly not the best, the company’s strategic objectives point to the development of the best technological solutions that can best meet the needs of energy independence of the country and of Europe.”
Investing in which direction?
“In the meantime, we have already launched a strategy of expansion and consolidation at a national level, with theopening of 2 officesin 2 regions that we consider strategic for the development of renewables, Puglia and Liguria. The former has already proved to be a true economic locomotive of the south. TO Genova instead we inaugurated a center of excellence for the biomethane design.
We are also facing choices towards some European Union countries with a project of internationalization which we will develop in the business plan for the next three years.
The areas on which we focus most are the biomethanethe cogenerationil photovoltaic of new generation and of course the sector ofautomation which for us represents a flagship.
With our main partners, we only hope that the legislator will start a serious process of simplifying administrative bureaucratic procedures, adapting them to the speed that the market requires.”
