Introduced in 2018, Garmin’s first Vívomove (HR) hybrid watch continues to evolve. Available in a Sport version in 2022, it is back in a Trend version which notably has the mission of succeeding the Vívomove 3. A generation which is distinguished by the addition of Garmin Pay, its compatibility with wireless charging and the use of a better defined LCD screen.
Unique format and LCD screen
At first glance, the Vívomove Trend differs little from its big sisters. Garmin’s hybrid tocante consists of a polymer case topped with a stainless steel bezel, like the Vívomove 3. However, it is only offered in a 4mm format (with a standard 20mm strap) equal in thickness to the Vívomove Style (11.9 mm). A sort of mix of Garmin’s previous hybrid watches, in short. The watch is rather light: 43.3 g with its silicone strap.

Technically, the Vívomove Trend seems to have its roots in the Vívomove Style. There is indeed, under its two needles, a rectangular screen occupying a much larger surface than on the Vívomove 3 and Sport. Wider by 1.5 mm (25.6 x 18.8 mm) than that of the Vívomove Style, this screen is no longer in Oled technology, but LCD.
It could however be that this change remains discreet, insofar as the screen is placed under a translucent dial and displays mainly white characters. The definition of the LCD panel is on the other hand higher (346 x 254 px against 240 x 240 px), and we can therefore expect a slightly higher display finesse.
On the health measurement side, the Vívomove Trend benefits from the same cardio-optical sensor as the Venu 2 and gains the measurement of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2). It also monitors sleep and has a barometric altimeter which is used in particular to measure the number of floors climbed during the day.
The sports functions have changed little, the watch still integrating 14 sports modes and being devoid of a GPS chip. It will therefore be necessary to carry the latter for a complete follow-up of outdoor activities.

In terms of connected functions, there is of course the display of notifications and the response to SMS (for Android smartphones only), the calendar as well as compatibility with Garmin Pay contactless payment technology.
Wireless charging is finally here
Unfortunately, no improvement on the autonomy front, the tocante still ensuring up to 5 days of operation in connected mode and 6 days in simple watch mode. Recharging promises to be more convenient, however, since Garmin has the good idea to make its Vívomove Trend compatible with Qi wireless charging.
