MG definitely has great ambitions of conquest. During its press conference at the start of the year, which allows it to outline its strategy, the Chinese manufacturer (SAIC group) unveiled major objectives.
Since its return to French soil, the manufacturer has continued to see its sales progress. After a decent year for a launch in 2021, but lackluster, 2022 revealed the potential of this brand with an acceleration in the last quarter.
In 2021, MG had sold 4,951 vehicles, or 0.29% of the market. In 2022, 13,170 cars were sold, the biggest increase in sales with +166% and 0.83% market share. For 2023, the ambitions do not stop there. The manufacturer plans to deliver 20,000 vehicles and intends above all to expand its network of distributors, thus increasing from 150 MG Brand in mainland France and overseas departments and territories to 180 points of sale this year. Another way to reassure its customers since MG recalls that its productions are guaranteed for seven years or 150,000 km.
Its range consists of a thermal, electric and plug-in hybrid MG ZS, as well as an MG5 station wagon, a Marvel R family SUV and a compact MG4, but it is clearly the latter which represents the lever for growth. Not only has it recorded 7,000 orders in a few months, but MG will be offering a sports version called MG4 X-Power this summer.
On the program, two motors (one on each axle), 450 hp of power, more than 600 Nm of torque and a 0 to 100 km / h shot in less than 4 s. These figures will not only make it the fastest MG in history, but are also fully consistent with the dynamic abilities of the MG4, whose road behavior we appreciated.

It is not finished. In addition to the MG4 X-Power, MG announces the arrival at the same time of an MG4 Grande Autonomie. Unfortunately, we have no technical details at the moment, but we hope that the Chinese will approach the symbolic bar of 600 km, which would already be very sufficient to travel more serenely.
Regarding travel, MG seems to listen to criticism, since from 2023 its future productions will integrate a travel planner allowing stops and charging times to be integrated into the GPS system. MG also mentions improved cooldowns. Other features would be on the agenda, such as the integration of One Pedal braking.

Always in the radius of the novelties to come, MG evokes the birth of an electric city car based on a new version of the MG3 already marketed in the United Kingdom. This will be one of eight other new products from the manufacturer to come by 2025. One of the most anticipated is the all-electric roadster currently named Cyberster, the specifics of which will be unveiled this year for marketing in 2024.
MG recalls that if its strategy is clearly oriented towards electrification, nothing is forbidden and thermal vehicles, classic hybrids and plug-in hybrids are in preparation. If the overall quality remains at the rendezvous and the prices remain below the competition, there is no doubt that MG is on the road to success.
