Doctor Who: a Game of Thrones actress joins the cast of the cult series

Indira Varma has joined the cast of the cult series Doctor Who, whose 40th season is currently filming. The actress seen in Game of Thrones rejoin Little Friend (Sex Education) and Millie Gibson (Coronation Street), in the mysterious role of The Duchess.
Of Star Wars To Doctor Who
Known as the fearsome Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones, Indira Varma has other prestigious roles within her impressive career. She recently played Tala Durith in the series Obi-wan Kenobiand Piety Breakspear in Carnival Row. The oldest among you also know her thanks to her roles in the series Luther (2010) et Rome (2005-2007).

His arrival in the cast of the next season of Doctor Who especially allows her to work again with the creator Russell T. Davies, with whom she collaborated on the series Torchwood in 2006. Indira Varma shared her excitement about the reunion:
“I am delighted to be in Doctor Who and especially excited to cross cosmic paths with Ncuti as the Doctor, and look forward to creating interplanetary mischief with him. I loved playing Suzie Costello for Russell T. Davies on the show Torchwood and I am delighted to enter this universe again”.

If the role held by Indira Varma – The Duchess – is still very mysterious, the first details suggest that she will play an antagonist to Ncuti Gatwa, the new Doctor of the series.
