A month and a half before its release in cinemas, the official duration of Mission : Impossible – Dead Reckoning Partie 1 (alias Mission : Impossible 7) has just been revealed. Prepare for a big dose of Tom Cruise: the film is the longest in the franchise.

156 minutes on the clock

Ethan Hunt’s seventh adventure is shaping up to be a big chunk. With an announced duration of 156 minutes (2 h 36 min) without the end credits, Mission : Impossible 7 exceeds 147 minutes of Mission : Impossible – Fallout to establish itself as the longest opus of the franchise.

This 7th film distances a little more Rogue Nation (132 minutes), Ghost Protocol (133 minutes), Mission : Impossible 3 (126 minutes), Mission : Impossible 2 (123 minutes) and the first film of 1996 at a modest 110 minutes.

This impressive duration is explained by the very nature of the film, announced as the first part of the conclusion of the adventures of Ethan Hunt, with a second part already scheduled for release on June 26, 2024. A grand finale which therefore requires install new characters and stakes that will span two films.

In Mission : Impossible Dead Reckoning Partie 1, Ethan Hunt and his team at the IMF set out to track down a dreadful new weapon before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens all of humanity. As the dark forces of his past resurface, Ethan embarks on a deadly race around the globe.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Mission Impossible 5 et 6, Jack Reacher), ce Mission : Impossible 7 will see the return of the usual cast around the indestructible Tom Cruise: Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, but also Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff.
