The cryptocurrency market is experiencing one of its busiest evenings ever in terms of news flow. While the US Justice Department’s statement regarding Binance is expected at 23:00 today, it has been suggested that CEO Changpeng Zhao may also resign.
According to American media Forbes, Zhao is in talks to resign. It is believed that the request for Zhao to resign came from US officials.
It has also been speculated that Zhao’s resignation may be one of the terms of the agreement reached by the company with the Ministry of Justice. Yesterday, it was revealed that the ministry asked Binance to pay a fine of over $4 billion to close the cases and investigation.
The terms of the agreement with Binance will be announced today at a press conference of the Ministry of Justice at 23:00.
As is known, the Ministry of Justice was investigating Binance for violations of the law. On the other hand, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission also filed lawsuits against the stock exchange in March and June.
