Oppo’s return to the French market may soon take a turn with the launch of its flagship series, the Find X8. A model the brand is particularly proud of, as shared in a video. WeiboZhou Yibao, one of its managers, is already showing off the device, which includes a new feature reminiscent of the camera control button on the iPhone 16.
Thanks to this pressure-sensitive shutter button, and developed well before Apple introduced its own version, Oppo aims to improve the user experience by facilitating shooting in any environment, including underwater. .
Iterative function
If the Cupertino company unveiled a tactile shutter button on its new iPhone 16, Oppo didn’t wait to develop its own variant. According to the video, the main difference is in its use. While on the iPhone 16, a single tap opens the Camera app, the Find X8 key requires a double tap, which avoids handling errors.
After opening the app, users can take a picture like the Apple model or adjust the zoom with a swipe. Located on the side of the device, this tool is more like a pressure-sensitive touch strip than a physical button.
The device also appears to be completely waterproof, allowing this functionality to be used underwater. A display that, while it may unnerve you, should appeal to enthusiasts of underwater diving or photography, as smartphone screens are rarely reliable with wet fingers.
A muscle technical sheet
Apart from this innovation, the Find X8 series should bring a lot of improvements over its predecessors. Powered by the advanced Dimensity 9400 chip, recently unveiled by MediaTek, the terminal will also feature a 6.5-inch BOE screen and a 5700 mAh battery, compatible with wired and wireless charging at 50 W. .
Its design has also been redesigned for various leaks, with thin borders and a flat screen, as well as a sleek back and offered in a variety of colors including black, light blue, light pink and white. The device will also have an alert slider, which is already seen on smartphones from OnePlus, another brand owned by BBK Electronics.
Just like its sister brand, Oppo is partnering with Hasselblad whose logo is featured on the photo block. It will consist of four 50-megapixel sensors, which will offer different optical zoom options (3x and 6x), as on the Find X7 Ultra, which was not honored in the French market.
The Find X8 series will launch in China on October 24, and across borders in 2025, likely marking Oppo’s return to the international phone market as a serious competitor.
