So Samsung will continue its collaboration with Apple which started with iPhone LCD.
However, production of OLED screens for the iPhone SE 4 will be shared between several suppliers. BOE will have the largest share, and in addition to Samsung Display, another Korean manufacturer, LG Display, is also being talked about.
But co-production
LG Display has come a long way. The manufacturer faced difficulties with its P-OLED panels in terms of longevity and energy consumption. Fortunately, these problems have been solved. BOE, a Chinese supplier, also produces standard OLED panels but can’t necessarily keep up with the volume production Apple needs.
Apple, by placing orders with BOE and LG Display, will try to reduce its reliance on its arch-rival Samsung in the telephony market. In recent years, the Californian company has moved to number one for its standard iPhones and number two for the Pro models. The first OLED iPads used Tandem OLED panels supplied by LG Display and Samsung Display at the same time.
