Ecovacs W2 Omni attaches to the surface via a suction system with a power of 5500 Pa. As a result, it can clean all kinds of glass surfaces, even if you don’t have access to the other side, for example a bathroom mirror. Or a glass table.
The device prides itself on being able to clean surfaces with or without a border, which our tests confirmed. To move on the window, it uses its two silicon tracks and its own sensors placed on the sides. Edge sensors automatically detect the vacuum and allow cleaning of frameless glass surfaces. As for obstacles like handles, they are avoided thanks to the anti-collision system. Like all robots on the market, the Winbot W2 Omni is not able to climb window frames. It is therefore necessary to manually move each window, which can quickly become a waste of time when faced with a fragmented glass surface.
Our tests confirmed that surface coverage was good. Depending on the methods selected, the tool cleans the window shape, then the facade in a zigzag path. For fast forwards, the W2 Omni is fully capable of blurring the walls to just dust the window. It works in parallel strips and its speed is precisely calculated so that the microfibers pass through each area. This robot does not miss any space including corners and borders. Better yet, it systematically returns to where it left off. It’s flawless!
Washing performance
Winbot Omni 2 requires the user to moisten the wipe before installing, after which they spray the surface with their sprayer. Since the robot does not change its direction, this limits the number of passing marks, provided the pads are kept very clean. If the wipes are slightly dirty, the marks are detectable, especially on the window borders.
Our tests, carried out on both glass office walls and bay windows, for several months without any tailings, confirm that the device’s effectiveness is most evident when the windows are very dirty, very round. Don’t be dirty or covered in pollen. Before the big spring cleaning, we recommend that you clean the fabric by hand, otherwise you can wear off your wipes too quickly and increase the chances of marks.
To avoid “spreading” the dirt all over the windows, you’ll need to change this pad often, or even during cleaning if there are many surfaces to clean that are really dirty. Additionally, it is also advisable to clean the glass surfaces frequently to prevent them from getting too dirty.
Finally, a piece of common sense advice: the outside of windows tend to get dirtier than the inside, ideally starting with all surfaces on the chimney side and ending with the outside. It is especially at the point where the robot is separated from the window that it leaves a slight mark that can be removed with a wipe with luck. We have to admit that at this price, we would have preferred a perfect, hassle-free cleaning.
