We once again took the opportunity to ask Philippe Carré a few questions to learn more about the evolution of the show and his vision for the audio-video market.

Hi Philip Carey, can you introduce yourself in a few words?

Hello, I have been an entrepreneur in this field for a few years, starting with technical event services, show organizer, Son-Vidéo.com and manager of the AV industry. Since 2017, we have taken over the Hi-Fi and Home Cinema Show, then called the Festival Sun & Image, which we renamed the Paris Audio Video Show, then moving it to the Palais des Congres in Port Mellot in Paris. was given I have been president ever since.

PAVS has grown into an institution since its creation in 2017, how do you measure the evolution of passion over all these years?

The size of the show will have multiplied since our takeover and this 2024 edition will allow it to become the largest European trade show, which we are very pleased about. We are expecting around 30,000 visitors this year! The public is there thanks to the quality of our exhibitors’ stands, the variety of offerings and the numerous activities, concerts, workshops, round tables that the show offers.

We are fortunate to have exceptional sponsors each year and in 2024, our sponsor is Eric Serra. They will perform their mix in Dolby Atmos of Grand Blue’s music, which they set up for the event at the show.

In your opinion, what technological advancements and use cases have made it possible for high-end audio equipment to be at the center of discussion?

Technological advancement is clearly the essence of our industry. In recent years, the quality of speakers and electronics has continued to improve. Dynamic sound optimization technologies have appeared for both home cinema systems and hi-fi hi-fi. The Dolby Atmos process also makes it possible to further enhance the cinema sound experience.

What kind of product best represents the relationship between the general public and the hi-fi world today?

Clearly streamed digital music, which in the past was heavily criticized by hi-fi enthusiasts (at the time limited to MP3s) is now available with uncompressed files and the ability to transport and store them on the net. Works makes it possible to achieve a sound quality unknown until now. In this context, the offer of streamers, which are more qualitative than each other, or amplifiers with integrated streamers, is driving the market upwards and mixing hi-fi and connected audio.

According to SNEP, the turnover generated by vinyl sales in France has exceeded that of CDs for the first time since the 1980s, can this observation be extended to sales of vinyl turntables?

Of course, after a period of selling high-end vinyl turntables only to hi-fi enthusiasts, vinyl turntables are now a product that is very popular with the younger demographic who often access hi-fi through this bias. do That’s why the market is moving into price segments that are definitely more mainstream, but it’s fortunate to see so many people excited about this vinyl offering, which has become so widespread in stores as well. !

Finally, tell us some new features that we will be able to discover during this 2024 edition of PAVS?

For this edition, we are lucky to have so many new features, be it in projection, speakers, connected speakers… it’s almost impossible for me to choose. What I can tell you is that the Paris show is becoming the launching site for many products and, to our delight, visitors will be able to enjoy themselves on October 26th and 27th!
