AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Test: The king of gaming processors is back.

We suspected it a bit: with the increase in authorized temperature and the passage of the 3D V-Cache under the CCD, the consumption is increasing, with 247 W recorded in the socket during our rendering in Blender. So it’s +39% compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

In the same exercise, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D uses 20% more than the Ryzen 7 9700X and its TDP of 65 W, but also 20% less than the Ryzen 9 9900X with a TDP of 120 W.

If the growth seems significant, it’s because our test maximizes the processors. In a few games and only in processor probes, we noted an average consumption of 64 W compared to 59 W for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an increase of 9%.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D uses 5% more than the Intel Core Ultra 5 245K, but 22% less than the Core Ultra 7 265K, 33% less than the Core Ultra 9 285K, and 42% less than the Core i9-14900K from the same manufacturer.

In terms of temperature, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D dissipates calories much better than its predecessor with an average temperature of 48.7°C compared to 59.8°C with our cooling system for video game use.
