Have you always dreamed of a movie? Game of Thrones ? Your wishes will probably come true soon because according to our colleagues The Hollywood ReporterWarner Bros. Studio. Been working on (at least) an idea for a movie set in Westeros for a while now.
Game of Thrones In the cinema
The project is still in the very early stages of development and therefore has no director, screenwriter and even less actors attached to the concept yet, but Warner Bros. George is clearly very excited about the idea of bringing RR Martin’s world to life in cinema.
On the one hand, this isn’t surprising given the fact that the studio has made a point of releasing as much content from its most popular franchises over the years as possible.
On the other hand, this is a more surprising strategic change in the series, because we must not forget that the showrunners of the series David Benioff and Dan Weiss. Game of Thrones which ended in 2019, wanted to wrap it up with three feature films, which HBO turned down at the time.
However, management at Warner Bros. and HBO have since changed, and both entities are now more inclined to revive their franchises in cinema and television, as is the case with the story. Harry Potter Which will soon be the subject of a series, or The MoundThe television prequel of which is coming this month on HBO and streaming platform Max.
The universe of Game of Thrones However, it still has a bright future ahead of it, not just the subject of two spin-offs (Home of the Dragon etc A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Hedge Knight) but several other derivative series are currently in the pipeline.
What about this potential movie? Game of Thrones ? Will it be a question of exploring what happens to Westeros after the end of the original series, or exploiting another part of its history? To be continued.
