While Samsung has democratized folding smartphones, Huawei has now made a debut. With the Mate XT, the company is marketing the first model that can fold into three, and the result is already impressive.
However, the South Korean firm does not intend to pit itself against its Chinese rival. According to an article published by ET News on November 7, Samsung is focusing on developing a tri-folding smartphone. No wonder, as Samsung’s display arm regularly shows off its three-part folding screen concepts.
For South Korean media, it’s important to be the best in the market. Indeed, Chinese competition has already gained significant market share, largely thanks to further innovation and tighter pricing. It produces less glare with each new generation of Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip.
Thus we were recently treated to the first attempt with the Galaxy Z Fold SE, which is better equipped than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and is approaching proposals from Honor, Google and even OnePlus. There is still a dark spot in the story: the specificity of this model to China and South Korea. For the Galaxy Z Flip range, a cheaper version should arrive next year.
Faced with three times the number of smartphones from Huawei, Samsung must work hard to establish itself with an ideal level that will win over consumers in the blink of an eye.
ETNews also details the situation well: “The demand for replacement smartphones has decreased and the number of competitors has increased. As a result, consumers around the world are spoiled for choice. The only way to choose a new Samsung smartphone is to to be the best”.
It remains to be seen how long it will take Samsung to market this kind of folding product. For ETNews, it should be. “soon”thus suggesting the best launch worldwide during the year 2025 (and why not during the Galaxy Unpacked conference in the summer?).
