BYD was present in Paris to unveil its Sealion 7 and the automaker is back at another auto show in Guangzhou. During this 2024 edition, the firm unveiled its Denza Z9, an electric vehicle available in two versions with official prices.
The Z9 sedan is available in PHEV and BEV.
The BYD Denza Z9 starts at ¥334,800 ($46,320) in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (BEV) versions. The former has three PHEV versions (¥334,800, ¥364,800 and ¥414,800) and two BEV versions (¥354,800 and ¥384,800). The D-segment sedan had earlier revealed its technical sheet with slightly different engine-wise dimensions.
The PHEV version is 5,235 mm long, compared to 5,180 mm for the BEV. Both have a width of 1,990 mm, height of 1,500/1,518 mm and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
The Denza Z9 features BYD’s e³ technology, a lighter version of e⁴ technology for ultra-luxury vehicles. It is based on the Xuanji architecture offering three motor propulsion with independent dual motor steering on the rear wheels.
The BEV version has a 230 kW (430 Nm) front motor and two 240 kW (360 Nm) rear motors. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is in 3.4 seconds. As for the PHEV version, it features a 152 kW (325 Nm) 2.0T thermal engine with a 200 kW (315 Nm) front motor and two 220 kW (360 Nm) rear motors. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds.
For autonomy, the BYD Denza Z9 uses a 100 kWh blade battery for 630 km in the CLTC cycle. The PHEV version has a 38.5 kWh battery (201 km electric range) for a total range of 1,101 km.
According to data compiled by CnEVPostDenza’s Z range is a success. After a successful launch of pre-orders, the Z9GT vehicle took off in October with 3,089 deliveries. In total, the subsidiary delivered 10,781 models in the same month.
