OnePlus is about to expand its catalog with a new Android tablet at a controlled price. If we are to believe recent leaks from Digital Chat Station, a whistleblower who is trusted and very active on Chinese social networks. Weibothis next touchscreen slate will be a disguised version of the Oppo Pad 3, a model that has already gone on sale in China.
A simple, basic technical sheet
The tablet will be equipped with an 11.6-inch LCD screen, displaying a resolution of 2800 x 2000 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. It will integrate MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 chip, a benchmark mid-range. Offers balanced performance for everyday use.
In terms of endurance, it will benefit from a 9520 mAh capacity battery for comfortable autonomy. The battery is compatible with 67W wired fast charging, which can charge faster. For the photo part, the tablet will have a rear module and an 8-megapixel front camera each, which is more than enough praise for video conferencing or taking the occasional photo.
Twin of Oppo Pad 3
The features revealed by the digital chat station are strangely reminiscent of the Oppo Pad 3, which was recently launched in China. The device weighs 536 grams, has a thickness of 6.29 mm, and offers 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The Oppo Pad 3 is also compatible with the Oppo Pencil 2 stylus, and is available in three colors: silver, purple and dark blue.
OnePlus, however, may introduce aesthetic tweaks to differentiate its version from its sister brand’s version in international markets, such as different colors or finishes. This is not the first time that two manufacturers from the BBK Electronics Group have shared similar models. Not long ago, Oppo launched the Watch X, a connected watch like no other under the OnePlus Watch 2.
In the shadow of Apple
While the OnePlus Pad, and Pad 2, which passed our labs and impressed us, sell for €499 and €549 respectively, this new tablet should be placed in the same lower price range as the Oppo Pad 3, as the Oppo Pad 3 was launched. €275 (in gross change) in the Chinese market.
This strategy could allow OnePlus to meet the growing demand for accessible Android tablets, especially in markets dominated by iPads, but where consumers are looking for high-performance alternatives at a reasonable price.
