While Bitcoin crossed the $100,000 mark for the first time in its history this morning, a tweet from 2019 by Peter Schiff, known as a Bitcoin detractor, resurfaced.

“Keep dreaming,” he said

Schiff is still known as an expert who participates in many television programs and compares gold and Bitcoin. While today was a historic day for Bitcoin, Schiff’s old tweets also surfaced. In his tweet from nearly 5 years ago, when Bitcoin was falling, Schiff told one of his followers, “Keep dreaming, but Bitcoin will never hit $100,000.”

The tweet has received thousands more shares as of this morning. Many people, most notably former Binance CEO CZ, both responded to the tweet and re-shared and RTed it for joking purposes.

The emphasis on 2024 draws attention.

It seems that this tweet got a lot of response not only these days but also in 2019. It is also worth noting that many of the chef’s followers asked him to wait for 2024 5 years ago.

He termed the exit as “government intervention”.

Schiff said he saw Bitcoin’s $100,000 movement this morning as government intervention:

“It’s ironic that Bitcoin bought off the politicians and reached $100,000… without government intervention, this price would never have been reached. “This was an event not in a free market with state-aligned forces. Could have been.”
