A few days ago, OpenAI announced that it will launch a whole bunch of daily announcements for 12 days starting December 5th. A sort of artificial intelligence advent calendar, which started yesterday, Thursday December 5th. The first announcement is already spilling a lot of ink: it’s a Pro subscription for ChatGPT at a particularly high price. Called ChatGPT Pro, this new offering will be available for $200…per month! Specifically, it will give direct access to an enhanced version of its o1 model.
An ultra-premium offering: a first in the market
With this offering, OpenAI opens the floodgates for an ultra-premium offering for artificial intelligence, aimed primarily at professionals. The o1 model is one of the most reliable on the market, especially featuring a very long reflection time after application. Thus, it is capable of solving 83% of the problems in competence for the International Mathematical Olympiad, while GPT-4o is limited to 13%. This slow behavior for artificial intelligence makes it possible to achieve much better results in professional fields such as programming or studying case law. On the other hand, this model also integrates image analysis: it can understand handwriting or explain some complex mechanism just by an image.
ChatGPT is now available in three different offerings. First, the free offer is still valid: the latter provides limited access to ChatGPT-4o mini, standard voice mode and GPT-4o. ChatGPT Plus subscription ($20 per month) provides access to all the functions of the free offer, but extends its limits: to take advantage of standard and high-quality sound modes, limited versions of o1 and o1-mini. It is possible to use, but also to create and use personalized GPTs. Finally, the ChatGPT-Pro subscription remains at $200 per month, which provides all the functions of ChatGPT Plus as well as unlimited access to GPT-4 and o1, unlimited access to advanced voice mode and access to o1-pro. For the best answers to the most complex questions.
