Doctor Who (Disney+): Festive trailer for the highly anticipated Christmas episode

The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) must face himself in new photos from the holiday special episode. Doctor Who which will air on December 25 on Disney+. For the occasion, Gutva teams up with a new space-time traveling companion, Nicola Coughlin (The Bridgerton Chronicles).

Welcome to Hôtel du Temps

This traditional Christmas episode of Doctor Who It’s called “Joy to the World” and begins on Christmas Eve 2024, when young Joey (Coughlan) checks into a London hotel and discovers that his comfortable stay is anything but. Not normal. When she opens the secret door to the Hotel du Temps, she encounters danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor.

“But a deadly plan lands on Earth just in time for Christmas,” Adds official summary.

The trailer below reveals that the Doctor must save Christmas and bring joy to several worlds simultaneously in this new episode.

Along with Gatwa and Coughlan, this Christmas Special It also features several guest stars including Steph DeWhalley (The cyber bride), Jonathan Ayers (Sherlock) Joel Fry (Cruella), Peter Benedict (Loss of lifeJulia Watson (Loss of life) and Niamh Marie Smith.

“Joy to the World” is written by none other than Steven Moffat, the series’ former showrunner who has already signed on for one more episode of the final season. Doctor Who.

But this Christmas episode was originally supposed to be written by the current showrunner. Doctor WhoRussell T. Davis. However, the latter was surprised by his already busy schedule with the production of the second season of The Adventures of the Fifteenth Doctor, and decided to hand it over to Moffat.

“The truth is, I love writing Doctor Who Christmas episodes. I’m a huge Christmas fan,” said the screenwriter.
