Apple’s Mac accessories recently got a makeover in terms of connectivity: USB-C. Thus, The Lightning has disappeared from the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. As for this last product, Apple will have big ambitions for its next-generation wireless mice.
A new version is already being developed by the Apple company. We recently learned from Mark Gorman that the Magic Mouse will return sometime around 2026. He also said that Apple is considering. “Make something more relevant, removing longstanding grievances”. So this would be an opportunity to review the ergonomics or the location of the charging port.
However, things will not end there for the Magic Mouse. Laker Eyes1122 added some information on the planned changes this December 30, 2024. He explains that Apple’s design team has already designed several prototypes in recent months, with the goal of adapting the mouse design to modern times.
The informant then speaks of one. “Ergonomic design for modern computing that integrates touch screens, voice commands and hand gestures”. A phrase that was quickly picked up by various media to suggest the advent of voice commands on the Magic Mouse.
The reality is quite different, given that Yeux 1122 misreported information from journalist Mark Gorman, where he spoke of a design that adapted to modern times, and that, “In a computing world now filled with touchscreens, voice commands and hand gestures”.
So you shouldn’t expect to be able to talk to your mouse to perform various actions on your Mac. Adding additional tactile gestures to the surface of the Magic Mouse seems more than likely, however, as does a new, more ergonomic design than the current model.
Regarding the release date, the informant announced the launch with the MacBook Pro Oled, which is scheduled for late 2026.
