Xiaomi exceeded its sales targets with its SU7 electric car.

When introducing its first electric car a year ago, Xiaomi expressed its desire to one day become one of the world’s top five manufacturers. A very ambitious goal that still seems far off, but it’s clear that the commercial launch of the SU7 sedan is promising.

130,000 cars were delivered in nine months.

Xiaomi Auto has already managed to become the fastest car manufacturer to reach 100,000 units sold on November 13, 2024, after just 230 days of production of its single model. Now, the SU7 has crossed the milestone of 130,000 units delivered, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced a year after its launch.

It therefore took nine months of marketing the Xiaomi SU7 in the Chinese market alone to reach the milestone, which the brand had set as a sales target for the year 2024 after expanding its initial target of 100,000 units. Xiaomi now hopes to sell its electric cars internationally.

This performance is very impressive for a company that previously had no automotive business. However, in absolute terms, this volume of sales is very small in the Chinese market, where 6 million electric cars will find buyers in 2023, this number may increase to 8 million in 2024 (source: Financial Times).

To continue its growth, Xiaomi Auto will expand its range of electric cars. The brand has already introduced the YU7, an SUV that incorporates some of the features of the SU7 and will be marketed in June or July 2025.
