When we tell you that AI is everywhere, it’s not an exaggeration. In 2025, Samsung will add it to its new generation of refrigerators. Marketed later in the year at an as-yet-undisclosed price, the model has been shown for the first time at CES. “Change our daily lives and usher in a new generation of smart home devices”. Let’s see how.
Hybrid operation and AI
Featuring an improved compressor – it runs longer while using less – and a Peltier module, one “Semiconductor device that cools food by taking advantage of temperature changes of electric current flow”This new generation works in a hybrid way.
The module is only active as a compressor at the same time when a strong cooling need is detected or anticipated, thus making it possible to optimize utilization. Storage is also increased by 25 liters (up to 900 liters) without increasing the size of the refrigerator, thanks in particular to the Peltier module, which takes up less space than the elements it replaces.
“Since refrigerators operate 24 hours a day, we have developed a cooling system that significantly increases energy efficiency for consumers.”said Jeong Seung Moon, executive vice president and head of the R&D team of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Division.
Better consumption and protection
Called AI Hybrid Cooling, the system uses artificial intelligence to detect the condition of the device, but also predicts changes in temperature to adjust the cooling mode accordingly. Samsung also promises longer food freshness with Hybrid Precise Cooling, a feature that minimizes internal temperature fluctuations. As one example, the manufacturer explains that its tests show that foods such as pork and salmon can be kept 1.4 times longer with the system activated.
