We discovered it last year in China, where it made its real debut. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 series has arrived worldwide and is coming to the French market this January 2025. As always, the brand aims to offer the best quality-price ratio at the moment, and to attract all potential buyers in the price range that stretches from €200 to €500. To do this, five smartphones are being released: first the Redmi Note 14, in 4G and 5G versions, the Redmi Note 14 Pro, which is also available in 4G and 5G versions, and finally the Redmi Note 14 Pro+5G, A more advanced level of terminal. his family. If Xiaomi is bringing the heavy artillery this far, it’s not for nothing: its Redmis are one of its best-selling devices and give it a 20% market share in France.
Efforts focused on sustainability.
Entry-level smartphones are often the poor cousin when it comes to durability, especially software. Xiaomi has put considerable effort into its five Redmi Note 14s, as the entire range will benefit from four OS updates (Android, therefore) and six years of security patches. The manufacturer also promises that the batteries of its devices will withstand four years of use, meaning that they will retain 80 percent of their capacity after 1,600 cycles. Finally, we note that the Pro 5G and Pro+ models benefit from protection against water and dust (IP68), in addition to Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protection; The Redmi Note 14 Pro and 14 5G are still entitled to IP54, which protects them from splashes, and IP54 to the 14 4G.

Like every year, it is the Pro+5G model that Xiaomi has taken care of the most. The smartphone flaunts a curved design, with a faux leather or glass finish depending on the color, and a massive photo block on the back. It has a 200-megapixel main sensor with wide angle, an 8-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle and a final 2-megapixel module dedicated to macro. Since artificial intelligence is now essential, the smartphone puts it at the center of its photo experience: it is possible to erase elements of photos or enlarge scenes using it after taking a photo. It is also used for other uses: AI Interpreter (translation), AI Notes (synthesis, translation and formatting of notes), AI Subtitle (automatic subtitling), AI Recorder (instant dubbing of audio recordings), or AI Movie (auto-create vlogs) and even circle to search.
These functions are enabled by the integration of a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, with 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage. On the battery side, Xiaomi has provided a 5110 mAh capacity and fast charging at 120 W. All this is hidden behind a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen (up to 3000 cd/m²) in a 210-gram case.

Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro 5G are more or less identical, as they have the same screen and the same rear photo block. The Pro 5G model is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300-Ultra chip (so with a 5G modem), and retains the Pro+ model’s battery, albeit with charging limited to 45W. This is also the strength maintained by the Redmi Note 14. The Pro has the same Helio G100 Ultra chip as the Pro 5G and its battery capacity has increased to 5,500. Both the Pro models come with some AI functions (photo enhancement, magic eraser), but leave most of the intelligent options to the Redmi Note 14 Pro+.

The end of 4G is not yet here. The Redmi Note 14s is therefore offered in two versions, both equipped with MediaTek chips. We note that both terminals get an under-screen fingerprint reader, where the Redmi Note 13 was protected by a sensor in their power button. They are both equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 and can accommodate a microSD card.
Featuring a flat design, they boast a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a brightness of 2100 cd/m² for the 5G model, and 1800 cd/m² for its 4G counterpart. These include a 108-megapixel main photo sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a final 2-megapixel module (macro). Among the differences, we note the use of a Dimensity 7025-Ultra chip in the Redmi Note 14 5G, and a MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra in its 4G counterpart; The first battery is 5110 mAh (45 W) and the second battery is 5500 mAh (33 W). So it promises to be a particularly durable smartphone.
