TikTok, one of the world’s most used social media applications in recent years and owned by China-based ByteDance, has been targeted by US politicians.
The US Supreme Court will make a final decision on whether to ban the app in the US by January 19. According to the Wall Street Journal, Chinese authorities are considering allowing Elon Musk to buy TikTok’s US operations.
“They said it was imaginary.”
The matter was denied by China. TikTok said the alleged conversation was completely fictitious. Analyst Daniel Ives says Musk’s ties to the Beijing government could greenlight the purchase. As is known, Tesla has a large automobile factory in Shanghai. Musk’s company has been making electric cars in China for 10 years.
It could be around 40-50 billion dollars.
The sale would cover only the application’s US activities, remove the much-discussed algorithm from the software, and would be worth about $40-50 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported.
China’s questions made people laugh at Congress
It was claimed that TikTok’s special algorithm was effective in collecting personal information of US citizens and that this information was transferred to China. Some US politicians called this situation a threat to national security. TikTok CEO Shu Zhichi answered questions from members of Congress at a congressional hearing last year. Chew was constantly asked, “Are you a member of the Chinese Communist Party?” In response to questions, the CEO said, “No, I am a citizen of Singapore. I also did military service in Singapore. So I cannot be a member of the Communist Party of China. The photos, which are sometimes funny. The moments are presented, also went viral on social media.
