410 million pixels in 24×36 sensor!

Canon has just announced a new image sensor to praise 410 million pixels! Of course, we have to wait a few years before seeing such a sensor used on Canon Hybrid in the EOS R Range, their newest EOS R5 Mark II.

198 times full HD definition!

This new sensor is designed for highly specific applications that require ultra -high definition, such as monitoring, medicine or generally industry. It is a CMOS technology sensor in the 35 mm format that portrays photos with his 410 million pixels, praising 24,792 x 16 704 pixels. It is just equal to 24K, a definition is 8K more than full HD and twelve times more than 198x! Its “small” 35 mm format makes it possible to imagine its operation with 24×36 optics and therefore make it possible to consider relatively compact devices.

Of course, in view of the definition, the information collected on every pixel must also be taken into account. So Canon chose the backlet stack construction, as the current Sony A9 III. Thanks to this, he can provide up to 8 pictures per second: so we will wait a bit for 120p slow motion.

It also includes a “pixel bining” function and therefore can be treated as one to 4 4 affiliated pixels to improve the sensitivity efficiency. With this mode, the final images are presented in 100 million pixels (such as a Fijefelm GFX100s II) and 24 frames per second.
