At the end of January, Disney+ signed an agreement with French cinema and audio visual organizations to submit their films on its Disney+ platform. An agreement in which the canal+ and its boss were not praised, Maxim Saada. The latter then believed that after a partnership signed in 2021, the Canal+ invested a huge amount of money from Disney+ to enjoy the “only” media history, which decreased by six months for Disney+ for six months.

At the beginning of March, Canal+ and French cinema signed a new contract, as Maxim Saada warned, was slightly different from the previous one.

A contract affected by Disney+

So far, the canal+ has had to invest 220 million euros every year to be able to present films at Canal+ six months after the dining room release. In nine months for Disney+ and its media history, inject the firm 25 % of your business in French and European cinema, or about 35 million euros. If the canal+ retains its six -month window, its investment will be edited to get closer to its competitors.

For a three -year period, until December 31, 2027, with the renewal of tech, the canal+ will have to invest a total of 480 million euros to maintain its beneficial date. In detail, it will be 150 million euros in 2025, 160 million euros in 2026 and 170 million euros in 2027.

The agreement remains that the prime video will sign around this thorny question of media history. Amazon service is currently in 17 months.

26.9 million users for canal+

Regarding the latest data from the canal+, the streaming service eliminated 2024 on 26.9 million users in 52 countries. A slight increase against 26.8 million at the end of 2023. The 2.5 % increase in Africa and Asia made it possible to reduce 0.7 % in Europe.

Revenue increased by 3.6 % to 6.45 billion euros. Maxim Saada’s comments: “The 2024 was an important year for the canal+. I am happy to confirm that the canal+ is now on the right path to achieve its ambitions to become a world leader in the media and entertainment and with 50 to 100 million users.
