Apple finally introduced an option for a long time claiming: the possibility of choosing the default navigation application on the iPhone. But this great development is specific to EU countries.

But with the European Union, with its Digital Markets Act (DMA), now digital giants force users to offer more choices. Result: In iOS 18.4 Settings, a new option will choose the default third party navigation application.
How to change the default navigation application on the iPhone, for those who already have the son of iOS 18.4.
- Open settings on your iPhone.
- Go to apps.
- Select default apps.
- Click the navigation.
- Choose the required request from the installed persons.
This flexibility ends on European borders. Elsewhere in the United States, Apple does not move an inch at this point. Only concessions: The possibility of defaulting the default translation application allows to support Google translation instead of an integrated Apple tool. A symbolic gesture, but hope for a far away from the theory that claims more openness.
iOS 18.4 is still in the test phase and should be deployed in early April. For this moment, Apple Regulation applies the least applied. But Europe has begun a violation. It remains to be seen whether the first flaw in the closed wall of iOS will be widened with other regions, or if the Apple brand will continue to lock its environment where the law does not force it to compromise.
