One year after Denkin upgrade, the average gas bills for Ethereum fell 95 %

One year has passed since the Denkin upgrade, which is considered to be the most important network of Ethereum, and the average gas bill of Ethereum has decreased by 95 %.

On March 13, 2024, a Denkin upgrade for Ethereum was implemented. This upgrade connects both the Kenneon run layer and the layer of Danib Consensus, and the total nine Ethereum Improvement proposals (EPS) have been introduced.

The main purposes of this upgrade was to improve scaleability for Ethereum and reduce the cost of transactions in the layer 2 network. According to Ycharts’ data, the average gas bill for Ethereum has dropped from 72 Gwei to 2024 to 12 March, 2025.

Last year, the average fee per exchange was $ 86, and the average gas cost for sale of NFT (non -fungal token) was $ 145. At the time of writing, Etherson data shows that the average cost per exchange is $ 0.39, while the gas cost for NFT sales is an average of $ 0.65.

Ether prices have dropped 53 % since Denkin upgrade

Although gas prices have declined sharply, Ether (ETH) prices have dropped by 53 % after the Denkin upgrade.

At the time of upgrades in March 2024, ETH was trading for more than $ 4,070, but according to Kongiko data, from March 13, 2025, a year later, the price dropped to about $ 1,891.

Hybrid layer 2 Blood coin (BOB) co -founder Dominic Hartz told Quintil Graph that Ethereum has recently been “disappointing”.

“The drop in prices on Monday has blown up all the benefits of default TVL (Total Price Shutdown) after Trump’s election. After Sulana’s Memocenne frenzy and Ethereum disrupt the months, it is clear that the industry is looking for a new Frontier that is sustainable and safe for defaulter.”

Problem in the next packetra upgrade

On March 5, 2025, the next major upgrade of Ethereum, “Pacter”, was launched on the final test net, “Sepolia”. However, the team faced problems such as error messages and empty mining blocks.

Ethereum developer Mars Van Der Widen confirmed that the fix had been applied, but the same error was created by unknown users, which caused further problems. After that the development team has successfully strengthened the test net and has taken action on this transaction.

Hearts said these test net issues will “affect the government launch on the manate, but this is not the biggest problem for Ethereum.” In addition, if the packet has been launched, “data capacity for layer 2 will double, which will reduce costs and improve implementation capabilities.”

“This is a step in the right direction, but the fact is that Ethereum is rapidly losing its ‘choice series’ for developers, and the packet is not a cure that solves all serious problems of Ethereum.”
