Motorola Edge 20
On the Chinese social network Weibo, Motorola has demonstrated its wireless and contactless charging technology. First presented in January in response to Xiaomi’s Air Charge solution, Motorola’s demonstration is much more successful today.
A charge up to 3 meters away
In its presentation video, Motorola’s technology takes the form of a large box, more or less resembling an Internet box. According to the firm, the latter works thanks to 1600 antennas which allow the charging of a product even through paper or another blocking object. It is also specified that the box can pause the charge if a human presence is detected, so as not to bombard it with waves.
This load can operate up to a maximum distance of 3 meters, and at an angle of 100 °. According to Digital Chat Station, famous leaker, its power does not however exceed 5 W, which remains relatively low compared to a more conventional load. This is however as much as the Xiaomi Air Charge, but a little less than the 7.5 W Air Charging that Oppo demonstrated a few weeks ago. Finally, as we can see in the video, Motorola’s contactless charging box can charge four smartphones simultaneously. Convenient for a family, for example, or for owners of many products.
